Hanover: Along the red thread

The "Red Thread" is a 4.2-kilometre city tour through Hanover's city centre that connects 36 important sights. A red line on the pavement runs along the route and offers groups the opportunity to get to know the city in a structured way. Under the expert guidance of a tour guide, participants receive factual information on the historical and architectural features of Hanover.

The tour starts at the Tourist Information Centre at Ernst-August-Platz 8. From there, the route leads past the Galerie Luise, the Opera House, Georgstraße, Georgsplatz, the Aegidientor, the Aegidienkirche, the Siebenmännerstein, the Volkshochschule, the archer on Trammplatz, the Neues Rathaus, the August Kestner Museum, the Wappenportal, the Laveshaus, the Wangenheimpalais, the Waterloosäule, the Wasserkunst, the Schlossbrücke, the Hohe Ufer, the Nanas by Niki de Saint Phalle, the Marstalltor, the oldest town house in Hanover, the Kreuzkirche, the Duvekapelle, the Ballhof, the Historical Museum, the Leineschloss, the Leibnizhaus, the Old Town with its half-timbered houses, the Marktkirche, the Old Town Hall, the Fratzenkopf, the Markthalle, the city centre, the Kröpcke and finally ends at the Ernst August Monument in front of the main railway station. The route is barrier-free throughout
